Start guide on using Linear

Linear is designed to help teams move fast, stay organized, and work efficiently. Whether you're managing projects, tracking issues, or optimizing your development process, Linear offers a clean, intuitive platform that adapts to your team's needs. This guide will walk you through the key features of Linear and help you get set up quickly, so you can focus on what matters most: delivering impactful work. Let’s get started!

Intro to Linear

Get a high level overview of the Linear environment by watching our Intro to Linear video:

Demo Linear

To explore some of the features and workflows in Linear, visit our demo instance. Any updates you make are local to your web browser and will be cleared once you refresh the page.

Some things to try:

  • Go to the P2P App project to try project features such as creating documents, turning bullet lists into issues, and creating milestones.
  • Create issues from any view with the shortcut C

There's limitations to the demo in that you can't explore settings and this doesn't support/show SLAs, but it should give you a good overview.

Apply Linear to your organization

Now that you've established an overview and have started exploring some functionalities of Linear, it's time to see how Linear works for your organization!

The best way to do this, of course, is to create a workspace by signing up using (preferably) your work email. Once you've created your workspace, check out our guide on Making the most of Linear, which offers a general overview of Linear for those who are onboarding.

Onboard your team to Linear

Bringing your team onto Linear requires a lot of guidance from workspace admins. To help ease that load, we offer some tips for team members who are joining a new Linear workspace in our Tips for joining your team on Linear.
We've put together a resource for switching from other tools on our Switch instruction manual page.

Examples of Using Linear

It's always helpful to see examples of other organizations, or even the Linear team, use Linear for their internal tooling. Through conversations with our customers and internal teams, we're passing on the knowledge through these resources:
