MCP connectors
Overview
Linear Agent uses MCP connectors to access tools and data outside Linear.
This lets the agent bring external context into your workflows to investigate issues, plan projects, write specs, and draft updates grounded in your full context.
MCP connectors work across Linear Agent chat, comments, and loops, and is enabled at the workspace level by admins.
Available MCP connectors
The following are examples, not a complete list. To browse connectors available to you, open Settings → Agent personalization → MCP connectors and select +.

Setup
A workspace owner or admin can enable or disable MCP connectors for the workspace, restrict usage to specific connectors, and manage or remove existing connectors.
Users inherit the workspace-level settings and can then choose which MCP connectors they’d like to use with Linear Agent.
Workspace configuration
- Open Settings → Administration → MCP connectors
- Turn on Enable connectors
- Under Manage connectors, choose All connectors or Only connectors in directory
- To manage allowed connectors, use the Connector directory
Adding a connector to the workspace directory doesn’t connect users’ accounts. Each user must connect their account separately.
Connect your account
Connect your account to an available MCP connector:
- Open Settings → Agent personalization → MCP connectors
- Under MCP connectors, select the + button
- Search for a connector or select one from the list, then review its details. If a Server appears, select Connect.
- Complete authentication with the provider
- Return to Linear and confirm the server shows as connected
After connecting, select the connector in the directory to view its tools. Select Show all to expand the list.
Once connected, ask Linear Agent to use the service by name. The agent can retrieve information or perform actions supported by its MCP server.
Custom MCP connectors
If your workspace restricts connectors, an admin must allow the connector first.
- Open Settings → Agent personalization → MCP connectors and select +
- Select Add custom MCP…
- Enter the Connector URL. To add authentication headers, select Advanced…
- Select Add connector and complete authentication if prompted
Custom MCP servers can use OAuth or authentication headers, depending on their configuration. Each user connects their own account.
