Triage

The shared inbox where incoming work gets reviewed.

Overview

Triage is a dedicated queue that sits in front of your team’s backlog. Issues land there when they come from integrations or workspace members outside your team, so incoming work is reviewed and prioritized before it joins the team’s workflow.

Team owners enable Triage in team settings.

Triage responsibility

Enable triage responsibility to define who handles incoming issues. The rotation can follow your existing on-call schedule through PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Rootly, or incident.io integrations.

Advanced setup

Linear offers several ways to reduce the manual work of reviewing, routing, and organizing incoming issues. Use them together or separately to handle triage in the way that fits your team.

Triage rules automatically update issues that match conditions you choose. For example, a rule can assign issues with a certain label to a specific person.

Triage Intelligence reviews incoming issues and suggests useful details, such as the right team, labels, assignee, project, or related issues.

Loops are automated agents that run on a schedule or when something happens in Linear. You give them instructions, and they carry out that work within the teams and projects you choose.

Triage works best as a daily habit, and the responsibility rotation keeps that habit from resting on one person.
