Pulley

Use Linear beyond their product teams

Pulley is the equity management platform on a mission to make it easier for anyone to start a company. Recognizing that equity is one of the biggest levers for economic mobility, Pulley helps founders and their stakeholders make the most out of their ownership.

Pulley's team has been using Linear to build their products since the early days of the company. As they've scaled from a small startup to a growing organization supporting over five thousand companies, Linear has remained at the heart of their operations across multiple teams.

When we were looking for a project management tool, Linear stood out to me right away because of its design. As we started using it, we quickly fell in love with it. It’s consistently fast, reliable, and has a thoughtfully curated feature set.

The versatility of Linear has allowed Pulley to extend its use beyond its product development teams. Pulley also utilizes Linear across teams including finance, marketing, people, and customer experience.

Our product teams use Linear for every step of the project lifecycle, from ideation to delivery. Linear is designed specifically for product teams, but ironically, it’s such a great piece of software that we’ve started using it for many other purposes too.

Chief Operating Officer

For Pulley, Linear serves as a comprehensive system where teams can collaborate, ideate, and execute on their projects from start to finish.

Other legacy tools are often a dumping ground for functions like design or product to pass work to engineering. In contrast, Linear is the home for the ideation, creation, and the execution of the team. We’re excited about where Linear is going. We use documents, templates, and comments – these are the kinds of things that facilitate the team to plan and then execute all in a single tool.

Linear Initiatives have been particularly impactful for Pulley, enabling them to align their teams' efforts with strategic goals and provide visibility to leadership.

Linear Initiatives are absolutely critical. We want to be intentional about the boundary between frontline teams and maintaining executive alignment. And we believe that Initiatives are the solution for laddering work at the project level up to our company goals. We can reflect on whether or not the projects we worked on actually helped us reach our goals.

Linear has also improved how feedback is handled from customers and enabled engineering and customer-facing teams to work more closely together.

When a bug is reported by a user, our customer experience team immediately creates a Linear issue, which is then triaged by our engineering team in an on-call board in Linear. It’s a huge part of why we've always had really great feedback on our customer support operation. Not only is our team incredible, but the collaboration between engineering and customer experience is so smooth because of Linear.

The ease of use and reliability of Linear has made it indispensable for Pulley:

There's a scarcity of terrific software out there. And when you find good software, that's something very special.

In partnering with Linear, Pulley has been able to enhance their operations, improve cross-team collaboration, and maintain focus as they grow. Linear has become an integral part of how Pulley builds and manages their products, enabling them to better serve their customers as they continue to scale.
