Automatic embeds

Linear automatically detects links from common applications and will embed them automatically.

A figma link shows the embed expanding in Linear

Paste Youtube links directly in Linear descriptions or comments. We'll create an embed automatically.

Paste Descript links directly in Linear descriptions or comments. We'll create an embed automatically.

Paste Loom links directly in Linear descriptions or comments. We'll create an embed automatically.

As long as you've set up the Figma integration, pasting a Figma link will embed a file preview.

There isn't a way to turn off embeds for Youtube, Loom, or Descript.

The workaround is to confuse the editor by adding text before or after the URL from the browser. For instance, it won't recognize #link# as an embeddable link. To do this:

  1. In the browser bar of the media you want to share, type additional text before or after the URL.
  2. Copy the whole content in the browser with the additional text.
  3. Paste into the editor in the Linear issue. You can delete the text you added earlier.

You can also link to any URL using the "Add Link" option. Link to Zendesk, Front, Intercom or any other URL from the ... menu in any issue or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/CMDL. This will add it as a dedicated link section under the description for easy access.
